National Master Plan for Arable Agricultural and Dairy Development (NAMPAADD)

The general public can now dowload NAMPAADD Contruct Agreement form for form implements and other machinary hereand get more details and explanition from NAMPAADD details.
Since its inception in 2002 NAMPAADD has established and is operating Production and Training Farms (PTF) in the three sub sectors that covered namely; Rainfed agriculture, Irrigated agriculture and Dairy development.
  • These PTFs are located as follows; Rainfed is at Ramatlabama (just before you get to the boarder from Lobatse) and we cultivate various rainfed crops like sorghum, maize, sunflower, legumes using cost saving production technologies like minimum tillage, moisture conservation and fertilizer application.
  • Dairy PTF is at Sunnyside (just before you get to Lobatse from Gaborone) and fully operational with cows producing an average of 35liters per cow per day. Among the technologies demonstrated and practiced at Sunnyside are silage preparation, feed mixing and dairy hygiene.
  • Irrigated agriculture has two PTFs. One is at Glenvalley in Gaborone North where there is demonstration of both protected and open field production using treated water for various vegetables like pepper, cucumber, lettuce and tomatoes.
  • NAMPAADD trained and is still training farmers and extension staff on NAMPAADD Technologies.
  • Also at Glenvalley there is a commercial olive oil plantation. The olive trees were planted in May 2007 and the first harvest and oil processing is expected in three to four years.
  • The second Irrigation PTF is at Dikabeya 20km from Palapye where there is both open field and protected cultivation for various vegetables like tomatoes, onions, watermelons, peppers, butternut and carrots.

NB: The public is invited to these PTF any time during working hours to appreciate and get detailed information on NAMPAADD Technologies. There are farm managers who are always available at all the PTFs.
